University of Maryland Medical System is Hiring a Project Coordinator - Patient Safety Near Baltimore, MD

Job Description

This is a hybrid role that will require you to be onsite at the Paca Pratt building as needed. 

General Summary

Under general supervision manages all aspects of the administration and ownership of projects to support strategic initiatives. Coordinates tracking of all projects and organizes the coordination of all teams as new initiatives are identified. Tracks success of projects and assists in the reporting of outcomes. Monitors the project plans for all projects to insure compliance.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Discusses ideas, identifies issues and gains commitment on recommendations.
  • Understands all aspects of required data and reporting and manages compliance to deadlines.
  • Assists with all aspects of project creation and reporting.
  • Provides assistance with quality assurance tools and processes. Seek an understanding of project interdependencies in order to effectively work with others on potential impacts.
  • Identifies issues, monitors the project and measures the risk factors. Ensures quality control of process and deliverables.
  • Participates in the creation and reporting of project related data for all levels of the organization.
  • Tracks and manages specific project documents, in conjunction with the project leadership.
  • Builds effective networks of internal and external subject matter expert contacts including managers. 
  • Coordinates and facilitates project meetings and communications in order to meet milestones and due dates.

This position is budgeted for a one-year term. Further funding for the role will be determined based on performance metrics and available funding after 12 months.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience in business administration or related field from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been obtained is recommended.
  • One year of project coordination experience required. Healthcare experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to manage project teams. Ability to set up, plan, manage, report and communicate small projects and direct the completion of projects within proper scope, budget and schedule.
  • Demonstrate ability to think strategically. Demonstrate sufficient understanding of some functions to structure and manage project work. Generate innovative and practical solutions to complex or unusual problems.

  • Support client relationship management and oversees project execution and reporting. Possesses excellent customer service skills.

  • Act as lead resource for dealing with project issues, ability to lead projects. Understands appropriate escalation process. Work with the team to make decisions considering the degree of impact on areas involved. Demonstrated ability to reach agreement and potential solutions through flexibility and compromise with peers, customer/client, and managers.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Project is preferred.
  • Structure and manage projects to meet client expectations, deliver value and minimize potential obstacles and risks. Understand and manage stakeholder needs and build commitment to project solutions that deliver target business value.

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary in order to work with all levels within the organization, and produce clear and concise reports of relatively complicated issues. 

Working Conditions

  • Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call, and may be require work beyond normal tour of duty to complete projects, meet deadlines, or respond to emergencies.
  • Work is performed in various environments within UMMC.
  • Work may include regular travel to and from the various affiliated institutions within the Medical System.
  • Work may be required in a Healthcare facility which the observance of “Universal Precautions” is mandated. Universal Precautions involves the wearing of protective clothing/equipment and the observance of safe work practice.
  • Work is high demand and fast paced.
  • Talking and hearing necessary for conversations with callers, visitors, patients, families and staff members.
