JOB SUMMARY: Assists in providing patient care and treatment in accordance with the Department of Nursing Standards. Maintains a safe and clean environment and assists the patient care team to provide various patient care activities. Performs clerical duties on the assigned unit. The age of population served is neonate to geriatric or as defined in unit-specific structural standards in the assigned area.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education & Training: High School diploma or equivalent. Certified by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Nursing Assistant. Current BCLS .
Work Orientation & Experience: Minimum score of 80% on medical terminology examination required. Previous experience as Nursing Assistant in hospital is preferred.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to: a) read, write and comprehend medical terminology; b) effectively convey verbal and written information; c) follow directions; d) perform simple mathematical calculations correctly; e) respond to emergency situations appropriately; f) adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital, including all shifts; g) effectively function as a member of a collaborative team; h) organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities, i) manual finger dexterity with hand-eye coordination and j) basic computer skills and typing.
