Statement of Job:

The Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine is pleased to announce the opening for a Technical Assistance Coordinator.

The Substance Use Research and Evaluation Team (SURE) strives to improve the overall health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance use, through the investigation of innovative interventions and the use of data driven decision-making to identify real-world policy and programmatic solutions.

Together with the SURE Team, the Technical Assistance Coordinator will work to improve the well-being of individuals, families and communities impacted by substance use. The Technical Assistance Coordinator works in a team environment and participates in the design and implementation of technical assistance activities at the local and state levels. In addition, this position works collaboratively with members of the SURE team on the development, testing, and ongoing maintenance of the data collection, cleaning, analysis, and reporting systems that support applied technical assistance and research activities, as well as project management components necessary to support ongoing work at the local and state levels.

The Technical Assistance Coordinator acts independently and may be the point of contact for external clients as part of technical assistance and research projects, executes timelines and carries out project responsibilities within parameters approved by the Principal Investigator/ Project Director. This position routinely works with a broad spectrum of health providers and administrators, community-based organizations, policymakers, researchers, and other key stakeholders to facilitate technical assistance, evaluation and dissemination activities. This position is also responsible for working with program staff to implement procedures for reliable data collection, entry, and data cleaning/transformation and qualitative and quantitative analysis.

This is a grant funded position with a starting annual salary up to $68,000 commensurate with experience. This position will be working with the State of Maine and various partners throughout the state and will require regular travel as part of their routine job duties.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in public health, public policy, or related field and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience or Bachelor’s degree public health, public policy, or related field and a minimum of seven years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the field of behavioral health, public health programing and policies.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft software applications.
  • Demonstrates a strong track record of written and oral communication skills.
  • Has the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team and/or external stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel within the state working with the State of Maine and various partners.
