The University of Southern Maine’s New England Environmental Finance Center (NEEFC) seeks a Policy Analyst I to join their team.

The New England Environmental Finance Center (NEEFC) has been building community capacity as a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Environmental Finance Center since 2001, helping states, tribes, local governments, utilities, nonprofits, community-based organizations, and the private sector identify, fund, and finance critical environmental and infrastructure needs.

The Policy Analyst I will support three major areas of ongoing work at the NEEFC including a) technical project support across NEEFC’s diverse projects, b) communications and outreach, and c) administrative, budget tracking, reporting and general business support duties. This position will work closely with the NEEFC Director, Deputy Director, and NEEFC Program Managers and other Catherine Cutler Institute staff. The Policy Analyst I will work independently as well as in a team setting that requires close coordination and collaboration with the entire NEEFC team. This role will require occasional travel, largely within New England, and is supported by federal grants.

This is a full-time, soft-money (grant) funded position with a starting annual salary of $45,000. This position will be based primarily on our Portland Campus.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, community engagement, environmental policy/advocacy/management, political science, or another relevant field.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communications skills.
  • The ability to distill complex ideas into accessible and understandable communications in a range of formats.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, largely within New England.
