The University of Southern Maine’s Counselor Education Program is seeking a part-time Lecturers for our Fall 2023 semester, beginning August 28, 2023, and Spring 2024 semester.

We are seeking a student-focused instructors who will have full responsibility for course delivery and grading.

USM’s Counselor Education Program provides students with an integrated framework of knowledge and skills to build the foundation for ethical practice with diverse populations. Our Counselors are facilitators, collaborators, and advocates for people who are experiencing developmental transitions and difficult life situations. We prepare counselors in the areas of clinical mental health, clinical and vocational rehabilitation, and school counseling. To learn more about our program click here.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience. In addition, USM employees can use their USM Card to access the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s). USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD) and the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Qualifications:
  • An earned Masters in Counseling
  • Active clinical licensure (LCPC, LMFT, LCSW or Licensed Psychologist)
  • Previous experience in teaching or training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child and adult development.
