Statement of the Job:

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is hiring a Head Women’s Soccer Coach. This position is a part-time regular 12-month position (January 1 st – December 31st) that reports to the Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation. The Head Women’s Soccer Coach at UMPI provides leadership for and management of all aspects of the competitive intercollegiate sport which centers the student athlete experience / supports the various identities that student athletes hold, and serves the Department of Athletics staff, the UMPI campus, and the greater community consistent with the University’s mission and compliant with all applicable laws, University policies, and member organization policies and requirements. The successful candidate will need to be an adept and competitive recruiter and fundraiser. Additional duties may include but are not limited to: strength and conditioning support, admissions work, and athletic alumni relations/development. Be a great team player within the department who is eager to work collaboratively with all programs/staff/administration who share facilities, resources and common goals, values, and mission. Sincere interest and flexibility to assist and adjust responsibilities that support evolving department/university needs is required. The University of Maine at Presque Isle is an NCAA Division III institution and a member of the North Atlantic Conference.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of applicable experience (those with any combination of equivalent experience and/or education are encouraged to apply).
  • Ability to drive a van for team transportation on occasion (ability to meet University requirements to become a certified driver).
  • Demonstrated commitment to holistic development of student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to effectively modeling and operating an inclusive program that values diversity and demonstrates respect for the health, safety and well-being of others.
  • Demonstrated coaching success; demonstrated ability to teach through sport and about sport, coaching and transferable work/life skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on the student athlete experience in general, and to support and advocate for staff and student athletes who hold marginalized identities and life experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in recruitment, retention and graduation of qualified & talented prospective student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire student-athletes to develop to their fullest potential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with community members (students, faculty, staff, guests, collaborators) from marginalized and oppressed groups and life experiences,
  • Computer proficiency/knowledge.
  • CPR and First Aid Certified or the ability to become certified.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Intercollegiate college playing and coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated effective recruiting experience.
  • Familiarity with NCAA standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Interest or experience (education/certification) with strength and conditioning for performance, CDL Driving Certification, ATC Certification, or ability to teach Exercise Science classes is a plus.
