Statement of Job:

The University of Southern Maine Facilities Management department is looking to hire an Electrical Manager to join our team.

With the recent completion of the McGoldrick Center for Career and Student Success and the upcoming Center for the Arts, it’s an exciting time to be a part of USM’s campus transformation and a community that truly believes in its service promise to be Student Focused Every Day. This position will supervise the electrical operations trade for the Portland and Gorham USM campuses by assigning and developing work orders and projects, monitoring assigned budget, and coordinating services with other University departments. The successful candidate for this position will hold a valid State of Maine Electrical license and understand the full scope of the electrical trade, along with supervisory principles and practices to effectively supervise and evaluate staff, and manage operations work on USM campuses.

Essential functions for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Supervises electrical trades staff.
  • Coordinates department activities which include determining electrical maintenance needs, preparing work orders, and/or performing related duties.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of operational records, logs, reports, and/or related documents.
  • Periodically performs duties of an Electrical Specialist.
  • Works under minimal supervision, typically provided with general goals and objectives within assigned areas.
  • Managing the purchasing of materials and supplies, overseeing supplier contracts

This is a full-time position with a starting hourly rate of $28.00. Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid State of Maine Master Electrical License, or equivalent that is eligible to obtain State of Maine Master (i.e. out of state licensing that can qualify for applying for and obtaining State of Maine Masters License)
  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND seven years of related electrical experience and supervisory/management experience
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
