Description

The College of Education, Leadership Studies, and Counseling at the University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Counselor Education, emphasizing Clinical Mental Health Counseling. We seek a colleague who is committed to excellence in teaching, supervision, and the continuous improvement of our program. This appointment will begin July 1, 2024.

Work Remotely: No

Position responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate courses focusing primarily on clinical mental health counseling with possible instructional focus on school counseling.

  • Advise and provide guidance to the clinical mental health counseling graduate students.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships (within area mental health clinics and in the community).

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.

  • Coordinate clinical placements for Practicum and Internship students.

  • Supervise clinical mental health counseling clinical experiences.

  • Provide support in making sure our program meets all requirements of the state, CAEP, and CACREP.

  • Provide data tracking for the counseling program and student development and progress.

  • Participate in program, college, and university-wide committees.

  • Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

  • Participate in community networking, public relations, and recruitment.

  • Other duties include student advising, scholarly activity, and service to the campus and community.

Qualifications


Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • An earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program; ABD may be considered based on the degree completion date.

  • A minimum of three years of experience in a clinical counseling setting.

  • Experience in teaching graduate-level counseling and related courses.

  • Experience with clinical supervision.

  • Knowledge of inclusion, equity, collaboration, assessment, and evidence-based instructional practices.

  • Experience with community or school partnerships.

  • Evidence of potential for service and scholarly productivity in the field.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional counselor licensure or licensure eligibility in the Commonwealth of Virginia

  • Experience with CACREP and CAEP accreditation.

  • Evidence of service and scholarship in the field.

Teaching Load:

  • The normal teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year (fall and spring).

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk.
