Position Title: Theatre Shop Coordinator

Department: 2121|Performing Arts

Responsibilities:

The School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications for a Theatre Shop Coordinator/Facilities Manager beginning in Fall 2024. 

This is a year-round (12 month) staff position.The program offers a BFA in Performing Arts with concentrations in Dance, Acting, Design/Technology, Directing, and Theatre.The Performing Arts Program produces, on average, two to three mainstage Theatre productions, two Dance shows, and provides support for the UL Opera company’s two productions, each year. 

Job Duties Include:

• Executing the construction of design and technical elements for departmental stage productions
• ·Supervising student-workers and technical theatre students.
• ·Assisting the Technical Director in maintaining, repairing, and upgrading theatrical equipment of the Performing Arts spaces in Burke-Hawthorne Hall.
• ·Serving as Safety Coordinator for the Performing Arts area.
• ·Serving as the Facilities Manager for Burke Theater throughout the Summer.
• Some night and weekend hours may be required

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 2 years experience in carpentry, electrical wiring or technical theatre production

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Theatre
• Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in rigging and sound systems
• Knowledge of welding methods
• Professionalism, collegiality, and excellent organizational and communication skills
• 2 Years of professional experience in theatrical production, live entertainment and events
