Job Summary
Gatton Student Center is seeking a motivated individual to take on the role of a Training Specialist for the Gatton Student Center (GSC) Student Hospitality team. This position involves designing, organizing, and conducting 1:1 and group training sessions for our student staff, ensuring their readiness during employment, and supervising student staff to maintain operational standards during nightly shifts and rotational on-call weekend staffing.
Detailed responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Develop, create and conduct engaging and information 1:1 and group training programs for the GSC Student Hospitality team, including retreats, technical training sessions, and onboarding sessions for new hires ensuring all staff member are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Provide hands-on supervisor for the student staff during evening shifts from 6 PM to midnight Monday-Friday and rotational on-call weekend staffing ensuring adherence to procedures outlined in GSC Student Hospitality handbook and address operational issues promptly, maintaining high standard of service delivery and professionalism.
  • Coordinate and manage staff coverage in the event of call-ins or unforeseen absences to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain open communication channels with student staff, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Collaborate with Student Program Specialist to align training objectives with organizational goals.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience in training and development, preferably in a hospitality or customer service environment.
