University of Kansas is Hiring a Student Communications Coordinator/Assistant Near Lawrence, KS
Position Overview
The Institute for Policy & Social Research seeks a student communications coordinator to supports its work. The student communications coordinator will assist in developing and publishing all public-facing content for IPSR. The person in this role will report to the associate researcher responsible for IPSR communications. The ideal candidate for this role will: know how to write well for a broad audience, have technical expertise in using media platforms and document software like Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign, have some experience with information and document design, and know about social science and policy-relevant research. The time commitment for this role is 10 hours per week. This work will be performed at the IPSR office on the 6th floor of Blake Hall. The Institute for Policy & Social Research is a faculty-driven research center at KU supporting social scientists who focus on social problems and policy-relevant questions. IPSR fosters independent researchers and collaborative teams within our network of faculty affiliates and seven interdisciplinary research centers.
Job Description
The student communication coordinator will be responsible for: 50% – Creating content, including content for social media, periodic newsletters, and an annual report 25% – Designing promotional and event materials, such as fliers and programs 20% – Updating the IPSR and affiliate organization websites 5% – Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with social media platforms
Experience with the Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud suites.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with content management systems
Demonstrated skill with web writing
Experience in information design
Experience with report layout and document production
