University of Kansas is Hiring a Peer Educator-Student Hourly Near Lawrence, KS
Position Overview
Student hourly position within the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA). The student will serve on the Peer Education Team that will be tasked with serving as an ambassador, facilitator, and educator to the office and its overall mission of providing social justice education for KU students to critically examine the intersections of identity, equity, accessibility, and impact.
Job Description
Serve as an ambassador to the OMA and its mission
Facilitate social justice trainings, programs, and/or presentations to student organizations, classes, and/or units or groups on campus
Assist in creating trainings and programs concerning social justice topics and issues
Collaborate with fellow peer educators to promote trainings, programs, and/or presentations
Research and create educational materials for upcoming programs and trainings
Complete administrative tasks including but not limited to keeping office hours, answering routine questions, maintaining the shared spaces in the building, and finishing projects and tasks requested by OMA Staff
Selected candidates would be required to:
Attend bi-weekly meetings
Complete facilitator training and other periodic training with the Administrative Associate, Program Coordinators, and /or OMA Staff
Required Qualifications
Must have weekday availability
Must meet minimum enrollment requirements for students at KU (6 credit hours at KU)
Interest in social justice education, and working with individuals from various backgrounds as evidenced in application materials
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working on projects and/or organizations related to social justice
Prior experience in office and/or customer service settings
Availability to work 10 - 15 hours a week during the 2023 summer term
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Canva
