University of Kansas is Hiring an Office Manager - **INTERNAL ONLY Near Yoder, KS

Position Overview

This position will be responsible for directing and coordinating enrollment, managing student records, and academic space and dormitory utilization. Supervises an Administrative Associate with responsibility for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), enrollment, maintenance of enrollment records, and requests for training waivers.
The Hutchinson Campus is home to the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC). A unit of The University of Kansas (KU), KLETC serves as the central agency for all law enforcement training in the State of Kansas. KLETC manages an $12 million annual budget, 62 authorized FTE staff (augmented by more than 400 contract/adjunct staff annually), and trains nearly 10,000 students annually in residential, online, and outreach programs. KLETC serves 437 recognized law enforcement and police agencies in Kansas, providing basic training and continuing education programs throughout each fiscal year.
The Hutchinson Campus consists of 173 acres with fifteen buildings including two multi-story residential student dormitories.

Job Description

35% Oversees enrollment for all students receiving training or education through KLETC and under the authority of the Vice Provost/Associate Dean for the School of Professional Studies and Director of Police Training. Ensures compliance with Veterans Affairs requirements for students receiving benefits while attending training. Communicates with academy directors and administrators throughout the state to ensure compliance with enrollment policies, regulations, and state statutes. Works with units of the University of Kansas in establishing/maintaining the process for enrolling students on the KLETC Campus in credit programs.
30% Working in support of unit leaders, plans and coordinates work involved to ensure dormitory space, meeting room locations, and classroom space are effectively used to best meet organizational needs. Reviews and evaluates requests for space assignments and develops alternative solutions to meet priority needs, when necessary.
25% Ensures strict compliance with FERPA. Oversees responses to requests for educational records. Works with the University of Kansas registrar to ensure accuracy of records for students enrolled in credit programs on the KLETC Campus.
10% Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of office experience.
  • Excellent communication skills as evidenced by work history and application materials.
  • Experience organizing, managing, and supervising multiple and varied tasks and projects as demonstrated by education, work history, and application material.
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 90 days.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast-paced registration environment;
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups of people and organizations;
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to work with members of the law enforcement community and professional law enforcement associations;
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to coordinate decentralized people and events;
  • Experience working independently and achieving goals with minimal supervision;
  • Experience working effectively in a team environment and with deadlines and multiple, rapidly evolving priorities.
