University of Kansas is Hiring a Finance Director, Alternative Breaks Near Lawrence, KS
Position Overview
Work Schedule: 5 hours per week, maximum of 240 hours yearly. The Finance Director must be available for the summer, fall, and spring semesters, with especially busy weeks right after each week-long trip return. The Finance Director keeps the books for all programs and individual sites. This person is responsible for processing reimbursements, preparing financial packets for each break, preparing and presenting at Educational Opportunity Fund and Line Item funding requests, and forming plus keeping track of the Alternative Breaks’ budget. The Finance Director explains all financial procedures to site leaders and participants, and with their projections helps the Co-Directors set program costs for participants. This Director will help with Fundraising and Accounting Coordinators’ responsibilities and serve as a main point of contact for fundraising efforts, researching grants, and other fund-generating opportunities. The Finance Director reports to the two Alternative Breaks Co-Directors and their advisor.
Job Description
Manage AB funds and financial accounts with AB Co-Directors.
Plan and execute at least two fundraising events per semester in coordination with the Fundraising Coordinator.
Update the budget to ensure decisions are made as responsibly as possible.
Assist in preparing financial packets for each break, processing reimbursements, preparing and presenting in coordination with the Co-Directors for funding requests, attending meetings with potential sponsors, and aiding participants in questions about scholarships and payments.
Aid volunteer Fundraising and Accounting Coordinators as part of the Core team, and assist in financial aspects of Alternative Breaks.
Required Qualifications
Must be enrolled in at least twelve (12) credit hours at The University of Kansas.
Prior work experience requiring strong organization and time management skills.
Prior work experience working collaboratively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a Core Member of KU Alternative Breaks, or participant of an Alternative Break.
