The Lab Coordinator, under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs and coordinating with the Simulation Education Program, Director, supports the day-to-day operations of the Lab. The Lab Coordinator ensures the preparation, maintenance, inventory, and operation of equipment and supplies to ensure that faculty and students have high quality simulation and skills training experiences in the Lab, including virtual reality experiences. The Lab Coordinator helps develop and update Lab policies and procedures and assists with ongoing evaluation of programs for continuous improvement. The position is 12 month, full-time, hybrid (mostly in-person with occasional remote). Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required.
Job Description :
Lab Environmental Responsibilities
Creating/managing inventory checklist and conducting regular reviewing of the inventory
Ordering supplies
Managing linens and sharps
Labeling contents of Lab cabinets and Lab storage rooms
Cleaning and maintenance of equipment
Scheduling meetings with vendors for demonstrations of new products
Writing/cataloging/organizing operational policies and procedures for Lab
Creating instructional documents for procedures
Making copies of student worksheets for labs
Organizing Lab teaching documents, guides, and materials
Restocking and resetting equipment for reuse
Other duties as assigned
Lab Course Management Responsibilities
Publishing the schedule for the semester
Updating and managing the Blackboard simulation education program organization
Responding to student emails with questions about the schedule
All logistical pieces that ensure students are where they need to be, on time
Sending out reminder emails of preparation assignments
Ensuring preparation assignments are posted and open on Blackboard
Ensuring students have completed their preparation assignments by checking submission
Sending follow-up emails thanking the students for participating
Sending out evaluations for students after every lab session for quality improvement.
Developing survey (e.g., through Redcap) for students to complete after lab/sim sessions
Creating the schedule for the next semester
Managing Blackboard organization (Simulation Education Program) with all simulation files
Loading assignments and schedules into blackboard courses for graduate and undergraduate students
Scheduling Standardized Patient events for graduate faculty
Grant/Project Management
Manage and organize meetings for grant activities and other product reviews
Keep equipment secure and charged
Required Qualifications :
Associate degree in any Healthcare discipline or any related field such as Information/Medical technology
Ability to create and manage complex schedules
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
Ability to learn new technology
Ability to lift, move, and maintain equipment, i.e., simulators, manikins, computers, virtual reality headsets
Mechanical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in Lab
Ability to provide technical support in computer hardware and software used in Lab teaching
Working knowledge of video and audio equipment and basic data systems such as Microsoft Excel or similar
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact and work effectively with leadership, faculty, staff, students, and vendors in a positive, helpful, and cooperative working relationship
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a Simulation and Skills Training Lab
