Job Description Summary:
One position open for West Region in Kansas. Responsible for directing a research, outreach or services project(s) within a department, such as clinical trials or major software application upgrades, including managing the budget. Works with staff to develop a variety of services and technical support. ." The project is a state-wide effort to increase COVID-19 vaccination and testing among community members disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 including, refugees, migrants, recent immigrants, and persons for whom English is not a primary language. The Regional Community Project Lead (RCL) will work closely with leadership from KUMC, and the three other regional community leads (4 regions total across the state: West, Central, Northeast and Southeast). Regional Community Leads will manage and synergize the project objectives across their region working closely with community partners and community health workers (CHWs) across their region (5 counties per region and 3 community health workers per county for a total of 15 community health workers per region) to support the formation, development, and successful implementation of local health equity action teams (LHEATs). The RCL will manage the project related work of 5 LHEAT leads (one in each of 5 counties) and 15 CHWs in their respective region. The RCL must be an effective communicator and must be viewed as a trusted resource to the community. This position requires approximately 20% travel to counties within their region. Must be willing to work some nights and weekends with a flexible schedule.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public health, business administration or other related field or equivalent work experience or a combination of work experience and education, with one year of experience substituting for one year of education
One year of experience health related field
Experience supervising a team
Excellent organizational, communication and relationship building skills.
Prior experience working with large and diverse teams to accomplish goals
Ability to multi-task and work in a self-directed manner
Proficiency with office software applications including word processing, presentation software, and spreadsheets
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Public Health or other master's degree in a health- or communications-related field
Prior work experience as a part of research team in the field of public health and working with community coalitions
Two years of experience working or living in a multicultural setting
One year of work experience in a public health department or healthcare setting
Knowledge of regions and counties across the state of Kansas
Job Duties Outlined:
Manage the project team in your respective region to meet the larger project objectives and to build trust with regional public health partners and community members.
Routine communication with project leadership and team leads at the University of Kansas Medical Center; attend regular meetings with the other regional community leads involved in the project.
Responsible for recruiting and guiding all 5 community consultants (LHEAT leads) in identifying key community members to participate in local health equity action teams (LHEATs).
Support the establishment of and participate in LHEAT meetings in your region to develop new Covid-19 vaccination and testing strategies to reach the most vulnerable community members.
Collaborate with CHW Project Manager and Supervisors to support a team of 15 CHWs in 5 counties in your region to put into action a priority agenda set by the LHEATs.
Lead team members in participating in two Covid-19 KU learning collaboratives (one for LHEATs and one for CHWs) with the team members in the three other regions in Kansas (20 counties total) to share best practices and ideas related to testing, vaccination and supporting the disadvantaged.
Engage in regional and county level public health networks to identify local vaccination and testing resources (e.g., volunteers, faith-based organizations, community agencies), leverage area health care staff, and partner with local public health leaders (e.g., health departments and FQHCs) to establish improved vaccination and testing in the most vulnerable populations within the community.
Supervise the provision of data from your region for developing a community dashboard performance measure to highlight critical gaps in vaccination and testing related to this project.
Manage the day to day operations and collaborate with KUMC staff and external partners for establishing additional testing and vaccination strategies within your community.
Manage the collection, analysis and data needed for project outcome.
