Job Description Summary:
Project Eagle is an early childhood program focused on preparing children, engaging families, and promoting excellence for children and families in Kansas City, Kansas. Project Eagle provides home-based and center-based services to pregnant women and/or children ages birth to five through a variety of programs, the largest being Early Head Start. Project Eagle is also a member of the Educare Learning Network, part of a national initiative that serves as a platform for broader change, inspiring high-quality programs in communities, improving public policies within each state, and demonstrating a comprehensive approach to the first five years of life and learning. The Fiscal Manager is responsible for preparing budget reports, supporting business and administrative functions of Project Eagle, acting as a liaison with building management, reconciling expenses, and tracking in-kind and administrative costs.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business or other related field
Work Experience:
Experience analyzing and interpreting financial information and make appropriate recommendations
Experience working with Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent communication as evidenced by application materials
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Business Administration or related field
Work Experience:
Experience with grant funded programs, Early Head Start/Head Start grants.
Familiarity with Workday
Skills:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members and representatives of other agencies
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff
Anticipated hiring range: $65,000 - $70,000
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Compile and analyze monthly budget reports for multiple federal, state, and private foundation grants.
Reconcile expenses with KUMC Research Institute monthly budget reports on a monthly basis.
Prepare budgets for grant proposals. Compile and prepare grant proposal documents for submission and coordinate with KUMCRI throughout the proposal review process.
Participate as an active and integral member of the Project Eagle Leadership Team.
Track all cost sharing and in-kind for multiple federal grants. Submit monthly reports to the Director. Educate Staff on identifying and documenting allowable items.
Track administrative costs for federal and state Early Head Start and Head Start grants.
Draft and review all financial reports and invoices prepared by KUMC Research Institute prior to submission to funding agencies. Forward reports and invoices to the Director for approval.
Track program effort as necessary using personnel activity reports and certify effort in Workday.
Prepare monthly budget reports for presentation at monthly Head Start/Early Head Start Policy Council meetings, leadership staff meetings, governance committee meetings and other meetings as requested.
Supervise and work collaboratively with the Office Administrator.
Review and approve all purchase requests, assuring purchases are reasonable, allowable, allocable per grant guidelines.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with KUMC departments and staff, including the Institute for Community Engagement, Research Institute, Purchasing, Budget, and Payroll. Learn relevant procedures of each of the offices listed and educate appropriate Project Eagle staff members on the procedures.
Run payroll reports and other budgetary reports as requested. Assure all costs (i.e., lease, employee cell phones, phones) are appropriately allocated based on funding source.
Coordinate renewal and maintenance of liability policies.
Set up budget reports, cost sharing reports, and administrative processes for new and refunded grants. Finalize all reports at year-end for all grants.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
