Job Description Summary:
LOCATION SPECIFIC TO BROWN - JACKSON COUNTIES: THE HIRE MAY RESULT IN EITHER A FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME POSITION. Please state your preference. Extensive travel will be required for this position. Job Opening is through the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. Funding for this position provided by a grant from the CDC/KDHE entitled, "National Initiative to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities Among Populations at High-Risk and Underserved, Including Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations and Rural Communities." Community health worker duties will include team strategizing and planning to improve COVID-19 vaccination and testing in assigned counties, community outreach and events, and participant recruitment. Approximately 80% work out in the community (outreach, vaccination and testing events, etc.) and 20% office work.
Job Description:
Location specific to BROWN-JACKSON counties. Full or part-time positions accepted
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
Prior experience working with large and diverse teams to accomplish goals
Ability to multi-task and work in a self-directed manner
Proficiency with office software applications including word processing and spreadsheets
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or higher degree in a health or related field
Experience with translation of health-related documents
One year health education experience
One year experience working as a community health worker or health navigator
Two years of experience working or living in a multicultural setting
One year of work experience in a public health department or healthcare setting
Completion of Community Health Worker training
Proficiency in English and a language other than English
Knowledge of regions and counties across the state of Kansas
Bilingual Preferred (Spanish, Somali, Burmese, Quiche, French- Creole, ASL.)
Job Duties Outlined:
Participate in a local health equity action team (LHEAT) to develop new Covid-19 vaccination and testing strategies to reach the most vulnerable community members.
Participate in CHW team meetings to discuss new vaccination and testing strategies and carry out action items from LHEAT priority agenda.
Coordinate and communicate with the CHW project leadership; participate in zoom meetings with other CHWs on this project within the region.
Engage community-based organizations to improve vaccination and testing uptake (e.g. faith-based organizations, small businesses, schools, community agencies).
Assist in coordinating local activities related to vaccination and testing events to include, set-up, day of testing support, delivery of wellness packages to food insecure individuals.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of vaccination and testing resources.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal, and communication skills.
