UIC is seeking a Program Assistant to join our College of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, Office of Health Literacy team. The Program Assistant will act as the manager and team leader of the office, focusing on communicating between various entities in and around UIC and maintaining resources for the Office of Health Literacy.

The Office of Health Literacy will work with local, county, state, and global entities, it strives to: reduce health disparities, promote health equity and prevent chronic illnesses in socioeconomically diverse communities; educate students and healthcare providers in literacy- and wellness-promoting strategies; and recruit next-generation healthcare workers from diverse backgrounds.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Administration:

  • Perform the daily functions of office administration and report to the Executive Director, including but not limited to: preparation and timely submission of outreach materials, communication and outreach between outside entities, and development of written reports.
  • Coordinate the ordering, inventory, and maintenance of equipment, instruments, and data collection and analysis tools

Grant Management:

  • Assist in the coordination, supervision, and completion of projects
  • Maintain efficient and effective grant-related workflow
  • Occasionally assist in study protocol development
  • Collect, process, and analyze data

Communication:

  • Serve as a point of direct contact for the Office of Health Literacy questions and concerns from external units
  • Draft correspondence such as emails, reports, etc. Engaged in the publication enterprise.
  • Attend meetings as requested by the Executive Director; may require some local travel

Staff Management:

  • Supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of lower level staff
  • Hire and train new staff for the continued workflow of the office

Other Duties:

  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
  • Providing backup support for the Executive Director in their absence.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in Public Health related projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Pre-Award Research Administration Experience
  • Excellent writing Experience
