UI Health is seeking a Medical Insurance Associate to join our Patient Accounting Revenue Cycle Team. This role independently submits or takes the necessary actions to complete or process various types of routine insurance claim forms. They are also responsible for processing moderately complex claim forms, collect outstanding payments, and resolve denied claims. They may train lower-level staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Take necessary actions to complete, bill, collect or adjudicate moderately complex medical claims.
  • Reviews and analyzes discrepancies in order to determine the appropriate course of action required to complete the billing process. This includes generating claims, resolving edits, releasing claims, and resolving rejections.
  • Collects, reviews and analyzes payment, adjustments or denial records and posts adjustments as needed.
  • Communicating internally between teams and externally between payers or vendors with a high-level of clarity and specificity for efficient communication.
  • Resolve items from work queues at the expected department guidelines and monitoring overall volume for escalation.
  • Perform duties consistent with lower-level of series
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Any one or combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the categories below:

    A. College coursework in a health-related field, business administration/management, human resource management, or closely related fields as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

    • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
    • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)

    B. Work experience in a healthcare environment working with medical claims, denials, rejections, referrals, and prior authorizations.
