Description:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Billing and Director of Administrative Operations, the Health Care Reimbursement Analyst II will be responsible for using knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Managed Care regulations, to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to ensure all possible reimbursement enhancements or opportunities are captured. The Health Care Reimbursement Analyst II will work with members of the department and division to bill clean and timely claims to insurance companies, along with referrals/authorizations, correct and billable CPT and diagnosis codes. The Health Care Reimbursement Analyst II will possess the knowledge and significant experience in core areas of financial clearance, coding, billing, and AR Denial/Encounter Reconciliation.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete analysis of new development and trends and/or proposal in the reimbursement field to determine the financial impact for the Department.
  • Assist management in the analysis and development of third party contractual allowances, using financial and statistical modeling.
  • Assist management in the analysis and development of action plans of AR Denials, using financial modeling, for review of payer pattern and to determine whether an appeal is warranted.
  • Assist more senior staff members in the review of existing operations procedures and makes recommendations for the development of settlement data to maximize reimbursement from third party payers including training financial counselors and related support staff.
  • Recommend improvements and modifications to divisional operating procedures to maximize operating efficiency and reimbursement.
  • Complete reviews and analyses of prior years’ outstanding AR reports to resolve outstanding issues within regulations and within the time frame imposed by the payers’ statute of limitations.
  • Review current and prior years’ data and other necessary variance explanations, in coordinating the annual financial audit.
  • Physician relations and communication: connect with Physicians on a regular basis to discuss areas for improvement in the billing process.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of the billing regulations and hospital physician billing requirements.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:

    A. a Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, management, or finance.

    B. Progressively more responsible work experience that provided a knowledge of generally accepted principles, theories, and practices in healthcare/medical billing and reimbursement.

  • One (1) year (12 months) of professional experience in third-party reimbursement for health care facilities (such as an accountant or auditor).
Two (2) years (24 months) of additional work experience comparable to that of a Health Care Reimbursement Analyst I or comparable work in healthcare reimbursement.
