Description:

The Grant and Contract Associate will provide proposal/grants development support to faculty in the College of Social Work under the direction of the Associate Dean for Research Support.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Helping faculty identify funding sources/opportunities;
  • Determining proposal submission forms and all necessary supporting documents required by the funder;
  • Providing consultation on budgeting and budget development and review of the budget and budget justification prior to submission to the business office;
  • Maintaining a library of templates/samples (as they become available) of commonly used proposal documents such as bio-sketches, letters of support, facilities and resources sections, etc. and providing these to faculty when applicable;
  • Monitoring the return of documents like bio-sketches and letters of support and sending reminders to external entities about submission deadlines;
  • Reviewing supporting documents for compliance with funder requirements;
  • Providing a preliminary review of the proposal narrative to ensure it is responsive to the FOA/RFA/PA/NOFO;
  • Support assembling all proposal documents into a final format acceptable for submission;
  • Developing a training/workshop curriculum to be held throughout the academic year on a monthly or semi-monthly basis to assist faculty in learning successful proposal development and submission strategies and proposal development resources available to them at UIC.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or a field related to the position
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in social services or liberal arts with an emphasis on excellent writing and communications skills.
Prior experience supporting the development of successful research proposals for federal funding sources such as NIH Institutes, Department of Justice, and the CDC; private foundations such as Robert Wood Johnson and the Joyce Foundation; and state and municipal funders is strongly preferred.
