UIC is seeking a Data Analyst to join our Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement team. This role is responsible for providing support for reporting and analytics services to meet the needs of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement (OVCA). This position reports to the Manager of Data Analytics and will utilize data visualization and analytic tools to summarize and share insights into current and forecasted fundraising activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Manager of Data Analytics in fulfilling ad hoc reporting requests from central OVCA units as well as the Portfolio Management team.
  • Work closely with the University of Illinois Foundation AIMS team to ensure new reports, policy changes, and questions from OVCA team members are handled appropriately and with transparency.
  • Produces analytic reporting that provides actionable insight for all Advancement units.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain statistical models to optimize OVCA activities.
  • Develop key reporting dashboards and visualization tools in support of OVCA activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders, gain their confidence, understand their technical and operational needs, and translate them into viable solutions and implementation plans.
  • Analyze business processes and analytics requirements; develop appropriate solutions using Tableau, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, and other software to produce reliable, accurate, and dependable information for OVCA.
  • Identify ways to automate audits and develop reports and statistics to monitor data integrity, and database changes, address accuracy and effect of data.
  • Maintain technical documentation on reporting and analytic solutions.
  • As needed, participate in the assessment, evaluation, and selection of vendor products.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor Degree within Computer Science or closely related field of study
  • Minimum 1 years of professional IT experience within Business Systems Analysis including demonstrated experience including analysis and interpretation of functional business and data requirements with the ability to translate into technical and design specifications for systems implementations and recommending system alternatives for both new and existing systems
  • Demonstrated experience designing and generating reports, manipulating, analyzing data, and communicating results to non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated experience with relational databases (SQL) and enterprise reporting systems
  • Demonstrated experience managing and analyzing data sets with SPSS, Excel, and PowerBI or Tableau.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office collaboration and productivity software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; customer focused, collaborative, ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Proven experience in developing dashboards and visualizations, along with presentation to decision makers and program managers.
  • Demonstrate effective, accurate and clear communication with excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, reading, phone, and customer service skills.
  • Handle all activities and highly confidential information with discretion, good judgment, courtesy, and tact while working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Work both independently and as a collaborative team member with a high standard of integrity and ethics in support of OVCA’s strategic vision.
  • Exceptional time management, planning, and analytical skills to complete work with accuracy and a keen attention to detail with constant interruptions in a fast-paced office environment.
