Ambulatory Pharmacy Services, a unit of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking to hire a Clinical Practice Data Analyst to join the 340B Program Compliance team. This position requires a reliable, self-directed, motivated, detail oriented team player with demonstrated knowledge of Excel or a comparable data management program to format, organize and calculate data in a spreadsheet. This on-site position is located in the Administration area of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $72,000.

This is a full-time (40 hrs.) benefits eligible position. UIC offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience. The Successful Clinical Practice Data Analyst Will:

  • Assist with the building of reports, as appropriate, to monitor and improve 340B Program compliance and performance
  • Monitor and generate reports to audit pharmacy inventory acquired through appropriate accounts (e.g., WAC, GPO, 340B and non-340B) to replenish inventory in the mixed-use inventory setting
  • Collaborate with the Pharmacy, Compliance, and 340B Oversight Committee to develop monthly, quarterly, and yearly audit metrics
  • Perform routine compliance audits, resolve discrepancies, and identify causes of discrepancies using excel or a comparable data management program
  • Maintain 340B self-audit records and provide summaries of findings
  • Support and maintain the split-billing/third party administrator systems and the functions to be performed
  • Evaluate patient eligibility for qualified and non-qualified patients in mixed-use areas and clinics by reviewing patient medical records, insurance plans, and, if applicable, hospital status
  • Assist in assessing opportunities for cost savings and system improvements to yield higher compliance
  • Participate and support quality improvement initiatives and complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Assist the 340B Assistant Director with Pharmacy Technician and Extern payroll entry, scheduling requests, and monitoring of attendance to ensure daily operational coverage.
  • Participate in the hiring and training of 340B team, if applicable.
  • Establish effective working relationships with internal/external working counterparts (IT, Pharmacies, Pharmacy buyers, finance, credentialing, and others) to facilitate productive exchanges of information to improve program efficiency.
  • Demonstrate conflict resolution skills by identifying and involving appropriate team members to assist in resolving issues successfully.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Effective communication skills
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with attention to details
  • Ability to learn and utilize new software applications for data entry and reporting
  • Knowledge of CMS data requirements for core measures, meaningful use, and similar metrics
  • Experience with coordinating projects and team dynamics to successfully achieve team goals
  • Effective time management skills

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Information Management, Healthcare Information, Nursing, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, Management Engineering, Business or closely related fields or as required by the position to be filled in the area of specialization inherent in the position may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with complex data management and audits (e.g. Excel, pivot tables)
  • Minimum one year of 340B experience
  • Completion of 340B University on Live/On Demand
  • Knowledge and proficiency in EPIC or other electronic medical record
  • Experience in 340B Split Billing/Third Party Administrator Software and/or manual 340B operations.
  • Previous drug purchasing and/or wholesaler experience
  • Experience training employees.
  • Experience in software implementation
