Description:

The Accounting Associate will report to the Director of Finance regarding College of Nursing finances, reporting, and business needs. This position will coordinate and assist in the management of business and financial operations of the College, and will provide support for accounting, reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting. In addition, the position will contribute to the creation of policies, workflows, and systems of operations to provide operational support for College of Nursing units and staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service and Business Operations:
    • Assist in the fiscal management of business operations of the college and all departments.
    • Manage the processing of all financial transactions including: accounts receivable, budget projections, effort reporting, and monthly reconciliation.
    • Manage accounting strings and payroll reconciliation.
    • Provides end-user support for UI systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Suggest ongoing process improvement for business and financial operations
    • Participate in College and University committees and groups to advance knowledge in systems, policies, and best practices.
  • Budgeting and analysis:
    • Provide support in budgeting, tuition revenue projections, monitoring, administering and analyzing all departmental accounts.
    • Participates in the development and implementation of unit/departmental programs, objectives and long-range planning.
    • Run reports to provide detailed analysis for executive leadership.
  • Data Interpretation and analysis:
    • Serve as resource to faculty and staff for data interpretation and analysis. Respond to internal and external requests for information. Interpret, report and present results to administrative and academic policy makers.
    • Provides expert technical advice to management and administration on complex accounting or financial issues. Recommends actions or alternatives to be taken by management based on accounting or other financial data.
    • Conduct financial-based research and analysis on new business opportunities; develop and analyze pro-forma to determine feasibility of proposals.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • A. Bachelor's degree with a major in Accountancy or a related field AND two (2) years of professional level accounting experience.

    OR

    B. Possession of current registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant, or a valid license to practice Public Accounting (LPA).
    OR

    C. Master's degree in Accountancy or a related field.

  • Additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, as well as relevant laws and regulations; ability to apply accounting theory to very complex accounting problems.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to present accounting or financial data in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to collect and organize accounting data, interpret its significance, and prepare accurate financial reports.
  • Ability to solve difficult and complex accounting and related financial problems.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately regarding accounting and financial issues, and exercise tact when solving controversial problems.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to assess customer needs, meet quality standards of service, and evaluate customer satisfaction.
