UIC is seeking a Laboratory Manager to join our Office of the Vice Chancellor for Innovation, Technology Innovation Lab (TiLab). This position is responsible for the effective management, operation, and safety of the shared laboratory space at the UIC Technology Innovation Lab (TiLab). The Laboratory Manager coordinates activities and provides technical support to member companies to ensure a safe and clean lab environment for TiLab tenants and members.
Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage a comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety programs and processes. Coordinate the development, implementation, and preservation of key standard operating procedures and policies. Confirm tenants have established standard operating requirements and staff of member companies have proper training.
• Maintain local and state government documentation requirements relating to facilities and operations and ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety laws and regulations. Manage all pertinent equipment and facility certifications.
• Oversee the maintenance and servicing of shared laboratory equipment. Perform daily tasks to ensure instruments are working properly, schedule preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot routine issues.
• Develop and manage standard operating procedures for the start-up and shutdown of shared equipment. Ensure all users are following appropriate procedures.
• Manage liquid and solid waste pickups and proper storage of chemical and biohazard waste.
• Train members on shared scientific equipment and ensure proper use.
• Ensure shared lab spaces are clean and well stocked and act as responder for equipment alarms and laboratory and facility emergencies.
• Develop positive working relationships and act as primary point-of-contact for third-party facility/lab management teams (maintenance technicians, shipping and receiving, etc.) and TiLab member companies.
• Maintain professional atmosphere in shared office and lab spaces. Greet and assist tenants and member companies and assist with tours of facility as needed.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
