Position Summary

The Office of Population Health Sciences (OPHS) at UI Health develops, promotes, and coordinates a system-wide clinical plan to accelerate the development, evaluation and implementation of strategies focused on advancing the health of populations served. The Executive Director-Healthcare Strategy provides high level strategic, administrative direction, leads efforts to create momentum & value around health care system improvements, including integration of physical, behavioral health, equity, health related social needs, transition of care, & continuity of care. They establish partnerships with stakeholders with a focus on public systems of care. This position will enhance quality/equity-informed models of care and establish evidence-based practices for using these approaches in research and care delivery initiatives for the UIC OPHS, OVCHA & across the enterprise (hospital, clinics, colleges).
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop access and design systems to obtain new non-traditional Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)/Health Related Social Needs (HRSN) providers into public health care.
  • Create pathways to seamlessly connect providers to the broader health care system, including training (e.g. claims submission).
  • Expand the Institute’s portfolio of projects, including the enhancement of University System partnerships with the Office of Medicaid Innovation.
  • Convene stakeholders to identify solutions to improve direct care and advocacy for individuals and families with acute or chronic multi-faceted health.
  • Collaborate with University centers, institutes, and organizations that represent underserved communities to identify and develop proposals for public and private funding with a focus on redesigning system entry points around an individual’s specific situation and need (e.g. families with behavioral needs, seniors in need of home support and additional care, pregnant women with behavioral health needs).
  • Establish relationships with and engage sponsors/funders in developing capacity and enhancing quality in healthcare spaces, including mental health and other essential health needs.
  • Represent the OPHS on committees and at meetings both on and off campus. Represent UIC and UI Health at national and international levels, serving in capacities such as grant and publication reviewer, consultant, and thought leader.
  • Provide oversight of related financial and personnel activities including the monitoring and evaluation of budgets, research grants and contract proposals with payors and sponsors. Serve as OPHS liaison and representative for oversight of personnel and financial matters to the University, health system, and colleges.
  • Promote the evidence-based human-centered healthcare delivery practices to increase the adoption of these methods in research funding opportunities and programs, as well as healthcare delivery innovations and evaluations. Establish UIC as a thought leader and innovator in the field of healthcare delivery.
  • Prepare both internal and external reports of accomplishments in government relations and health care system improvements for grant reporting, external advisory board members, stakeholders and UIC campus committees.
  • Supervise assigned staff. Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
