University of Illinois Hospital is Hiring an Administrative Nurse III (Nurse Manager) - Heart Center Near Chicago, IL

Position Summary
The Administrative Nurse III (Nurse Manager) is accountable and responsible for providing oversight of the department day to day operations. The Nurse Manager participates in evaluative research, teaching, prioritizing patient needs, and providing leadership with resource utilization. The Nurse Manager serves as a resource for physicians, nursing and support services. The Nurse Manager identifies strategies to monitor and evaluate resource management decisions, process improvement and quality initiatives in the department. The Nurse Manager relates effectively with department team members for high quality delivery of services and maintains high quality relations with other departments and nursing units. The Nurse Manager participates in all mandatory education requirements, maintenance of records and updating of policies, procedures and skills of personnel in the department.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Motivates and manages nurses, medical assistants, ECG technicians, and other healthcare workersManages the unit/service line’s day-to-day clinical operations, including practice standards, staffing, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvementDevelops and implement action plans to improve staff development and delivery of careActs as a professional leadership role modelManages, plans, and monitors unit/service line activitiesresponsible for the hiring, orientation, training, development, evaluation and counseling of unit/service line personnel.Hires, evaluates, and counsels unit/service line personnelUtilizes to facilitate optimal staffing, scheduling, and patient assignmentsManages and controls unit/service line expenditures within establish budgetsCommunicates effectively and maintains confidentiality with patients/families, medical staff, nursing staff, and interdepartmental staffAdvocates for patients, families, and their significant others, coworkers, community, and the nursing professionPromotes and supports Shared Leadership as the selected method of nursing governancePromotes collaboration between coworkers, all members of the health care team, as well as patients, their families, and significant othersDemonstrates the highest level of customer service to internal and external customersCommunicates in an effective and professional manner to reach conflict resolutionActively participates in Medical Center communication processes through timely review and response to electronic and written messagesOrganizationalAdheres to and enforces the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.Treats patients/families, staff, students, and visitors with respect and dignity.Adheres to and enforces Nursing’s time, overtime, and attendance policies.Completes electronic learning modules and related programs as assigned by Medical Center Learning by the established dateComplies with University Health Services TB and fit-testing requirementsInitiates resolution of patient care problems utilizing established communication channels/chain of commandResolves recurring clinical practice and/or related unit problems and participates in problem-solving and resolution utilizing established communication channels/chain of commandEducation/ResearchFacilitates the planning, presenting, and evaluating of learning/educational experiences for staff and studentsServes as a resource to nursing staff and studentsIn collaboration with clinic and hospital leadership directs unit-based quality initiatives and provides feedback and education to staffEncourages and supports nursing and multidisciplinary research efforts conducted on the unit and in the Medical CenterResponsible for continued professional growth/development by identification of learning needs and initiating strategies to meet such needs
