The University of Illinois at Chicago’s Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships is seeking an Assistant Director, Financial Aid Business Analysis, who will work as a functional resource with staff members in support of the financial aid process and the Ellucian Banner FA Module. The position will coordinate with other staff to ensure compliance with federal and state financial aid regulations, changes in university policy, and modifications to departmental procedures within Banner. It will also work on process automation and scheduling, and modify queries to support new/existing processes and reports for financial aid staff, leadership, and interested parties.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Assist in establishing and implementing financial aid guidelines and policies to increase and improve operational efficiency within Banner to ensure proper regulatory compliance. Responsible for researching financial aid regulations and develop business solutions as needed

· Provide feedback as to the feasibility of enhancement requests and best practice recommendations in regards to using enterprise applications. Troubleshoot, update, modify, and analyze information systems to ensure compliance with regulatory needs and changes.

· Oversee and maintain database loads and reconciliation of all electronic transmissions related to Financial Aid applications, loan, and grant processing.

· Assist the programming staff with end user interaction, creation of functional requirements, and testing of programming changes. Performs testing of baseline Ellucian software releases and patches. Assist in the configuration and maintenance of Banner Financial Aid annual set up as well as create queries to analyze and identify data integrity issues. Identify and achieve efficiencies through functional workflow improvements

· Coordinate Banner Financial Aid changes and updates in order to streamline processing, improve student service and enhance compliance with University, federal and state requirements and regulations.

· Assist with the implementation and update documentation of in-house processes.

· Responsible for researching financial aid regulations and develop business solutions as needed.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or an appropriate combination of education and experience.

Two years of experience in financial aid in a functional business process position in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Banner, Ellucian products or other higher education ERP systems.

Working knowledge of requirement tracking, packaging, disbursement, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), and other tenets of financial aid delivery.

Intermediary knowledge of SQL.

Ability to analyze business processes for risk and inefficiency and develop solutions.

Excellent written and oral communications as well as organizational skills
