Position Summary:
A temporary academic year (9-month appointment) faculty position. This position is responsible for leading the Colleges Housing Law Clinic. The clinic is devoted to providing free legal services to individuals dealing with housing law related matters, including evictions and fair housing issues. The faculty member will be involved in providing direct legal services to clients, will supervise law students who represent those clients, and will complete all necessary grant and gift reporting requirements. The faculty member will be responsible for running the seminar or classroom component associated with the clinic and will teach one to two additional courses according to the needs of the college and as directed by the Dean. The faculty member will be required to cover the clinics cases during the academic year breaks, with a supplemental contract during the summer break.The faculty member is expected to teach a 2:1 load, manage the clinic and teach other courses according to the needs of the college and as directed by the Dean. In addition, the faculty member is expected to participate in outreach activities on behalf of the Clinic and the College of Law.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • at least five years of practice or teaching experience; and
  • must be a member of a bar in good standing
  • eligible for admission to the Idaho State Bar as a supervising attorney within one year of the date of hire.
  • a record of or the promise of teaching excellence;
  • a demonstrated commitment to service in the law school and the community.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience practicing housing law, prior experience working with tenants.
