University of Idaho Instructional Media Designer
Location: Moscow Division/College: Col of Agricultural & Life Sciences Employee Category: Classified Pay Range: $24.35 per hour or higher depending on experience FTE: 1.0 Full/Part Time: Full Time Position Summary: The Instructional Media Designer will serve as a specialized graphic designer to create online instructional content in a variety of mediums including online courses, digital publications, videos, and social media posts. This position will work with Extension educators and faculty to design and develop online certification courses that will engage learners and accomplish key learning goals. This position will manage multiple projects simultaneously, provide visual creative on-brand design solutions, adhere to creative strategy timelines on project briefs, gather and implement feedback and input, and execute technical requirements. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in graphic design, instructional media design, virtual technology and design, or a related field; or Associates degree in graphic design, instructional media design, virtual technology and design or a related field plus two years additional experience in graphic design or instructional media design (total of four years experience); or four additional years of experience in graphic design or instructional media design (total of six years) may be substituted for a bachelors degree.
Two years working in the design field to include: designing for Print, Web, and Digital, as well as demonstrating an understanding of HTML and CSS.
Experience designing with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator or similar platforms.
Experience in customer service skills, organizational skills, and decision-making skills.
Working independently as well as collaboratively with employees at all levels of an organization.
Prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in instructional design, educational technology, online learning and pedagogy or related field, coupled with documented experience as a designer of online courses.
Good attention to detail.
Basic video editing capabilities.
Experience and ability to learn Adobe Captivate.
Experience with motion graphics and HTML.
3-5 years of applicable professional experience in an agency setting is preferred.
Experience in higher education.
