Other Conditions: Full time, 9-month, general funds, to begin approximately Fall 2024, pending position clearance, availability of funds, and actual staffing requirements. Renewal of appointment contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of funds. Position may be converted from 9 to 11 months or 11 to 9 months based on operational needs. 
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Teach in-person and online courses related to public health writing skill development, public health research methods, global health, social & behavioral sciences, health equity, social justice, antiracism, indigenous health, and other public health topics to community college and early college students and public health professionals
2. Plan and establish new courses and programs
3. Advise and mentor public health students
4. Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
5. Serve on departmental and university committees
6. Provide service to professional and community stakeholders as relevant to the individual's academic specialty
7. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with the majority of coursework in Public Health or related field
2. Evidence of ability to teach effectively and to direct group discussions
3. Experience mentoring students at the college/university level
4. Demonstrated ability to work well with others
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills
6. Experience working in multicultural and diverse settings
7. Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others
 
Desirable Qualifications
1. Established record of effective teaching to college students through classroom and/or distance education modalities
2. Demonstrated ability to develop new courses and/or programs
3. Experience applying innovative teaching techniques in courses
4. Demonstrated ability to conduct active research through peer-reviewed publications, grant proposals, and/or other scholarly products in public health writing, public health pedagogy, antiracism, and/or health equity
5. Familiarity with public health applied learning experiences
6. Demonstrated interest or experience working in multicultural and diverse settings and populations.
