  • Plan and organize Community Colleges (CC) system-wide initiatives to support 13th Year Programs
  • Work with and support CC systemwide efforts with Basic Needs initiatives (food assistance, financial health, health services, housing and shelter, child care) at the UHCC colleges such as working with the UH System Basic Needs program coordinator. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of 13th Year programs using data collection and analysis for decision-making.
  • Communicate 13th Year program goals and effectiveness to stakeholders and grant sponsors via reports, PowerPoint presentations, public speaking events, etc.
  • Work with partners (UHF, external partners) to develop funding opportunities to support 13th Year programs, including grants and proposals.
  • Support the ongoing operations of the 13th Year Initiative with information, technical assistance, and facilitation of access to opportunities. 
  • Provide technical assistance, such as meeting coordination and facilitation or making logistical arrangements, as needed to further the development or execution of the 13th Year Initiative programs.
  • Manage system-wide budgets for 13th Year programs. 
  • Oversee fund and resource development for the 13th Year projects, including grant writing and other opportunities.
  • Develop promotional materials for the 13th Year programs as needed.
  • Oversee annual data report and dissemination of information to 13th Year programs.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with the 13th Year program and support coordinators on system-wide initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
 
Education and Professional Work Experience
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business, Education, Speech, Communication, or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program management or coordination in an educational setting; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of program management and coordination as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with program management and coordination.
  • Ability to review student, budget, and operational data; produce program reports; discern trends and concerns from such reports; and communicate effectively the data and results.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative, and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organization, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
 
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience working in a community college setting. 
  • Knowledge of college financial aid regulations and procedures. 
  • Experience in working with disadvantaged students and/or groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse and underrepresented populations.
