The School of Education (SOE) invites applications for STEM Coordinator for a STEM education initiative. This is a 12-month grant-funded position in the School of Education, with funding for the position to continue for 5 years (sustaining funding past the grant will be sought). The ideal candidate will have experience working in a K-12 education or higher education setting and have knowledge of STEM best practices, along with a demonstrated ability to get children excited about STEM learning.
This Coordinator will serve in many roles that will benefit the community, K-12 students, local teachers, pre-service teachers, and the campus community. The job responsibilities include training UE faculty, education majors, and local teachers, assisting with STEM camps and special programs, building a mobile STEM tutoring program, and working in partnership with the Center for Innovation & Change (CIC) and UE’s Facilities teams to guide the installation of the Design and Innovation Studio. This individual will work at the SOE, but also work with the initiative’s Program Manager, who will be housed at the CIC. This partnership will allow the STEM Coordinator and Program Manager to be fully supported by the SOE and CIC.

The ideal candidate will be a STEM expert with experience working as a classroom teacher.
Academic Preparation
The ideal candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in education or STEM related field.
Minimum Experience
Candidates must have a valid teaching license and experience working with K12 students in a STEM field. 3-5 years working in an educational setting (public school, career and technical center, industry training).
Desired Experience
Candidates will have experience working in an education setting, with a demonstrated ability to get children excited about STEM learning. Experience with programming/coding, robotics, wearable technology, laser cutters, 3D printers, robotics, and various computer-aided design (CAD) software is a plus but not required. The right candidate will receive the necessary training because working with STEM equipment is an important aspect of this position. The right person for this position will have a significant capacity to learn, curiosity, and find joy in learning new skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to take initiative, assume responsibility, and handle confidential information with discretion. Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including proofreading/editing skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build working relationships among a diverse workforce and student population. Strong organizational and time management skills with accuracy and attention to detail. MS Office proficiency.
