Job Summary:

The Adult Division in the Department of Psychiatry (DOP) has an opening for a part-time (0.2 FTE) open rank (Clinical Instructor through Clinical Professor) - Psychiatrist.

The Medical Director (MD) for the AMC Outpatient Psychiatric clinic is responsible for the program's overall conduct, clinically and fiscally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates teaching, clinical, and research activities with other Department leaders.
  • Ensures adequate teaching opportunities for psychiatric residents, medical students, other trainees and other healthcare professionals
  • Contributes to the overall vision of the AMC OP Psych clinic.
  • Monitors productivity, identifies barriers to productivity and works with clinic leaders to eliminate barriers.
  • Balances the clinical mission of the AMC Psych OP clinic and UCH with the AMC Psych OP clinic’s training, research and community outreach/advocacy missions.
  • Is responsible the clinical oversight of patient care.
  • Monitors quality care metrics, especially screening / assessment of patient outcomes.
  • Manages services with fiscal prudence and has skills to leverage resources such as grants / endowments / foundations / philanthropy.
  • Manages a team of psychiatrists, residents and advance practice providers.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of # 2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

The ranks are based on how many years a candidate has been licensed and if they want to pursue the promotions track. Academic rank will be determined during the interview process after discussion between you and the department about your previous experience and academic desires.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Clinical Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: MD/DO

Sr. Clinical Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: MD/DO

Assistant Clinical Professor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: MD/DO

Associate Clinical Professor:

  • 4-7 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: MD/DO

Clinical Professor:

  • 7 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: MD/DO

Preferred Qualifications (applicable for all ranks)

  • Board Certified, Eligible, or Eligible by the time of hire in Psychiatry
  • 2-3 years of prior experience managing psychiatric providers in outpatient and hospital settings
  • Teaching experience valued
  • Experience collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations, especially as part of a new and developing program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations to community audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
  • Ability to lead teams in operational change

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

MD and/or DO

Clinical Instructor: $220,000 to $250,000 per 1.0FTE

Sr. Clinical Instructor: $220,000 to $250,000 per 1.0FTE

Assistant Clinical Professor: $220,000 to $250,000 per 1.0FTE

Associate Clinical Professor: $250,000 to $275,000 per 1.0FTE

Clinical Professor: $280,000 to $310,000 per 1.0FTE

The annual administrative stipend for this role has been established at $10,000. This stipend is contingent on the continued service as the Medical Director,

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
