Join Dr. Gao’s lab at the forefront of developing and integrating cutting-edge natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize real-world applications in medicine and health. As a Data Scientist (NLP/AI) in our lab, you will be instrumental in advancing language technologies that improve the accuracy and efficiency of medical diagnostics and patient care documentation. This position not only allows you to contribute to meaningful and transformative projects but also to grow professionally in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
Day-to-day, you will be immersed in a variety of exciting projects, such as enhancing and evaluating large language models (LLMs) for diagnostic decision-making, optimizing LLM training for low-resource environments, and assessing model explainability. You'll work closely with a team of graduate students, postdocs, and other collaborators to develop innovative AI models, create software tools, and establish robust data processing pipelines. Your contributions will directly impact our ongoing efforts to transform healthcare through AI, making this role crucial to the success of our department and the broader university community.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
Entry Level: $71,800 – $80,000
Intermediate Level: $78,100 – $89,000
Senior Level: $84,419 – $95,000
Principal Level: $97,081 – $107,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
