Job Summary

Campus Dining Services at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Equipment Operator I! This role is primarily responsible for receiving and delivering food, beverage, furniture, equipment, fixtures and other while ensuring proper safe handling of items in transit. This includes operating Campus Dining Services vehicles daily such as two-axle vans and trucks, as well as warehouse equipment such as fork lifts and pallet jacks.

Campus Dining Services leads the industry with outstanding quality food and dining experiences. Campus venues include residential dining halls, catering and retail outlets with staff who strive to make each student's experience the best it can be. Serving about 3 million meals each year, Campus Dining Services is dedicated to expanding sustainability efforts and providing options to guests with dietary restrictions and allergens.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Loading and Unloading:
  • Separate, select, and transport food service items, furniture, fixtures and/or equipment for safe, timely, daily delivery to CDS units via appropriate transportation method.
  • Unload the truck ensures that authorized personnel receives and signs for the delivery.
  • Deliver items to designated storage areas, and maintain a daily travel log summary to be provided to supervisor.
  • Assist with special functions, including delivery of goods and set-up of equipment, tents, cabinets, grills, and other items as needed.
Receiving and Storage:
  • Ensure that all shipments received are accurate, free of damage, and temperature controlled when required.
  • Coordinate, prioritize and adjust daily receiving activities to ensure products are stored in a timely manner.
  • Assists in inventory of goods, products and supplies.
  • Complete any last minute change requests.
Equipment Care and Maintenance:
  • Maintain proper fluid levels in the truck as well as check vehicle safety; report to supervisor if repairs are needed.
  • Ensure that all vehicles, loading dock, and parking lot are clean and orderly.
Other duties as assigned:
  • Assist other departments to cover production and packaging needs, vacation and/or unscheduled emergency deliveries.

What We Require

  • Successful completion of University of Colorado's Safety Training Program within 90 days of employment to operate vehicles required for the position.
  • Servsafe certified and or certificate appropriate for the position level or the ability to obtain Servsafe certification or certificate appropriate to position level within 6 months of hire.
  • Must possess appropriate Servsafe certification or certificate appropriate to position level for the duration of employment with CDS.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to work in extreme cold conditions for extended periods of time (PPE provided).
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • One year of food storage and/or transportation experience.
  • Previous experience with warehousing, handling, shipping, receiving, storing, inventory, and/or distribution of food products.
  • Previous driving and delivery experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the flow of food service from purchasing to, ready to prepare state.
  • Previous experience with food storage temperature control.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks.
