Position Overview:

A temporary Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students. Lecturer faculty perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the Lecturer faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Liberal Arts currently has 113 full-time and 152 part-time faculty in 8 academic departments. The College serves the University's Core Curriculum programs and enrolls more than 2,850 undergraduate students and more than 300 graduate students in 34 undergraduate and 17 graduate majors. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Teaching 16 hours of undergraduate courses in Spanish each semester, specifically at the 1000 (Elementary) level. Attending start of year training sessions, departmental faculty meetings, and coordinating with Department faculty to achieve course continuity, assessment and quality as required. May be asked to teach in a variety of delivery formats (online, hybrid, face-to-face). Lecturers participate in regular committee work at the chair's discretion.

Experience Required:

An earned degree Master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Experience Preferred:

Master's degree in Spanish or related field and at least 3 years higher education teaching experience in Spanish are required. Some preference for candidates with experience in online teaching.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Mastery of classroom multimedia, demonstrated methodological training, and ability to foster successful production of communicative language. Language instructors often teach the Core Curriculum courses, which require opening the students' minds to a global perspective on language and culture.
