The Opportunity :
The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering is seeking a Software Developer I position to support multiple projects in the department. The Software Developer I will process video data using state-of-the-art techniques that will include masking, pose, etc. This position will generate vehicle and pedestrian trajectories to generate traffic safety metrics. The Software Developer I will plan, develop, maintain, and support information technology systems and operations. This position will provide application development, performance monitoring, application acceleration, and service discovery to optimally deploy, run, and improve applications. The Software Developer I will support multiple transportation projects. These projects will include developing software, smartphone applications, and web development; and testing new technologies and equipment such as traffic detection systems including cameras, Lidar, etc.
This is a grant-funded position. Employment is based on circumstances, such as funding sources, which control the length for which the position is available. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time the funding for this employment is depleted.
Responsibilities:

• Responsible for developing, maintaining, and administering USDOT Safety Data Initiative(SDI) tool (UCF SST Real-Time Crash Risk Visualization platform) and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
• Work with the traffic research team to develop a software system that ensures robust and reliable execution of cutting-edge computer vision portfolios. This includes -Implementing state-of-the-art deep learning techniques for object detection such as FAIR Detectron2, Cascade Mask R-CNN, and proof of concept prototyping with Python QT.
• Research new technologies by attending seminars, reading articles, and implementing or recommending the implementation of new technologies.
• Integration with various real-time data processing modules such as Python Spark, Hadoop, and FDOT D5 C2c Module.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements for the project.
• Building devices using consumer electronics (e.g., Android or iOS devices, ARM processors, microcontrollers, Arduino/Raspberry Pi).
• "X"-2D/3D data processing and analysis: working with large 2D and 3D data to extract entities, estimate properties, and implement efficient data structures to enable faster data processing.
• Deep Learning and Object Detection: Using Deep Learning techniques for object detection in images.
• SLAM/Localization: Using images and point clouds for Simultaneous Mapping and Localization and similar problems.
• Sensor Fusion and Calibration: Computing sensor parameters and relationships to fuse data from multiple sensors for 3D object classification.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
Preferred Qualifications :
Master's degree in a related field.
