The Opportunity :
The Director, Marketing Communications I develops, implements, and evaluates strategic communications and marketing initiatives focused on elevating the college's reputation statewide and nationally with key industries, higher education, and government leaders. They support the college's efforts to increase philanthropy and other resources, recruit top faculty, grow programs, and expand awareness of high-tech, high-impact research. These efforts will involve working closely with Communications & Marketing, Advancement, the Office of Research, and others to fuel the future of Florida's premier engineering and technology university.
Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the Dean, CECS Advancement, UCF Communications & Marketing, and CECS' Departmental Marketing unit to develop a strategic communications plan focused on strengthening UCF's position as Florida's premier engineering and technology university with industry, higher ed and government leaders, alumni, donors, and prospective donors.
  • Oversees and maintains the college's website, ensuring it reflects the vision and strengths of CECS and meets university requirements.
  • Connects with the dean (regularly) and the CECS' Development team (as needed) to strategize about college marketing content creation and dissemination to enhance philanthropic support for the College.
  • Connects with the CECS' Departmental Marketing unit (weekly) to coordinate marketing efforts (Department, College) and chooses, in coordination with the Departmental Marketing unit, the top 20 highlight stories of the College every calendar year.
  • Meets regularly with the Dean and UCF Communications & Marketing to strategize content priorities and plans to elevate the stature of CECS nationwide and globally.
  • Leads the College's branding and communication with select corporate partners, such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Siemens-Energy, and others, and creates stories for college wide activities, (e.g., eli2 stories, GEMS and WISE stories), in line with the College's vision.
  • Leads College level marketing with select College activities, to increase College's external visibility, such as CECS Virtual Seminar Series, UTVS, NAC, CECS Open House, other appropriate activities.
  • Creates ten or more 2-pagers annually, on select College branding efforts such as eli2, GEMS/WISE, and other similar 2-pagers and utilizes/deploys these tools towards the College's philanthropic efforts.
  • Supports the college's marketing to the DAB (Dean's Advisory Board) and provides appropriate guidance to the College's efforts to attain higher rankings in the USNews and World Report, along with other publications.
  • Disseminates college stories at the local, regional, national, and international levels, as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 8 years of relevant experience, including 3 years of leadership experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Master's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education marketing or communications.
  • Proven success in developing and leading strategic marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Experience leading marketing or communications for an engineering - or technology-focused organization.
  • Experience building relationships and creating effective processes to work collaboratively and effectively across departments.
  • Experience with digital marketing tools and strategies, including SEO, social media, email marketing, and content management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
