University of Central Arkansas is Hiring a Visiting Lecturer of Mathematics Near Conway, AR

The University of Central Arkansas visiting faculty is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is non-tenure track and a one year appointment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate will teach six courses during the fall semester and two courses during the spring semester. All developmental mathematics courses in the Department of Student Transitions are offered in a corequisite model in which the developmental course is paired with a college credit course. As such, the candidate may be responsible for teaching both developmental and credit-bearing freshman level mathematics courses. The candidate may also have the opportunity to teach a student success course offered by the department. Additional duties include using online course management software, integrating technology in the classroom, and performing department and university service.

The Department of Student Transitions is an academic department which assists at-risk students to make a successful transition to college-level courses and to college life. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the research and practice of student-centered teaching, a willingness to employ creative teaching strategies, excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to collaborate effectively with a team of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to the educational success of all our students.

Required Education and/or Experience
The formal education of a Master’s degree in mathematics is required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching under-prepared, at-risk students at a two- or four- year institution of higher education. The candidate should have exceptional oral and written communication skills and a strong record of demonstrated potential for effective teaching.
