Job Summary

The role of the Writing Coordinator in the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) involves overseeing either a student services unit or a team of tutors/mentors within the School of Nursing to provide writing support services to students. The Writign Coordinator will report to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, but also work closely with other OSA departments, School of Nursing faculty and programs, the Office of Academic Programs, Student Life and Library. This oversight of the writing services provided is guided by a student-centered and data-driven approach. Responsibilities include crafting policies and procedures for the student services program, shaping the unit's long-term organizational objectives in collaboration with the supervisor, and effectively managing both financial and human resources under the supervisor's guidance. Additionally, the position entails setting unit goals and objectives, particularly in areas such as student writing support and associated programs, in alignment with supervisor input.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Department Description

A vital part of a world-renowned health sciences campus, the UCSF School of Nursing fosters excellence, diversity, and innovation in everything it does. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Knowledge of advising and writing support techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability in problem identification and reasoning.
  • Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of University processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of University rules and regulations.
  • Three years of related experience in writing and student support.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines; outstanding ability to prioritize competing demands effectively; ability to manage multiple requests and implement several projects simultaneously while managing various priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional and efficient manner; ability to interact with diverse groups including students, faculty, staff, external agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to demonstrate verbal and written communication skills; strong writing skills to prepare reports and other communications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and pertinent databases.
  • Ability to multi-task; verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum one year of related experience in student affairs, higher education (College/University) administration or administrative analysis.
