The ODO Assistant Vice Chancellor of Climate and Belonging oversees the CARE, Disability, LGBTQ, and Multicultural Resource Centers, Undocumented Student Support Services, and Community Engagement and Dialogue.
The Program and Outreach Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting programs, events, education, and training initiatives for students, staff, and faculty. This position involves coordinating administrative tasks, providing advising and referral support, assisting with outreach efforts, and enhancing administrative processes. The Coordinator also participates in professional development activities and supports central operations of the Office of Diversity and Outreach and affiliated units as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Programs, Events, Education, and Training for Students, Staff, and Faculty:

  • Coordinate and provide administrative support for various programs, events, and outreach initiatives, including educational and cultural programs.
  • Manage registrations, evaluations, invoices, reimbursements, and purchases related to these initiatives.
  • Develop marketing materials for diversity and outreach programs, including social media, online content, and printed items.
  • Reserve rooms for events and programs and order supplies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with leaders and partners from different enterprise sectors to ensure the success of initiatives.
  • Create and maintain filing systems and computer databases.
  • Research and compile information and prepare reports.

Provide Advising and Referral and Outreach Support to Students, Student Leaders, Organizations, and Partners for Non-Sensitive Issues:

  • Assist Registered Campus Organization leaders and students with outreach coordination of activities, events, and programs.
  • Support the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Climate and Belonging, Executive Director, and Resource Center Directors with institutional-wide outreach and events.
  • Support Resource Center staff with tasks, student-related events, and other activities as assigned.
  • Direct and refer visitors to resources as needed.

Administrative Support and Process Improvement:

  • Staff Resource Center front desk and respond to general calls, emails, program mail, and other deliveries from the campus community and public about RC programs and services.
  • Complete assigned administrative functions such as maintaining physical space and equipment, room reservations, and newsletter development.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and update calendars for various meetings and events.
  • Monitor the Resource Center websites and social media accounts, resolving any inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Develop and recommend administrative processes.

Professional Development:

  • Attend all-staff meetings and meet regularly with the Executive Director and Resource Center staff.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to support career goals and develop an equity-minded foundation.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Provide support for central operations of the Office of Diversity and Outreach and affiliated units as needed.
The hourly compensation range for this role is $24.28 - 37.88. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate, position requirements, AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple commitments, attention to detail, and productivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute programs and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Proficient in MS Office and other commonly used computer programs and applications.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications, and organization skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comfort using digital marketing tools and graphic design.
  • Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge of University processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of University rules and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience coordinating projects and activities.
