University of California San Francisco is Hiring a Registered Nurse - Interventional ACHD Near San Francisco, CA

Under the supervision of the Administrative Director, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Care Center, and in collaboration with the physicians and other clinical staff, the Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for providing safe, efficient nursing care to patients in the Interventional Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program. Triages patients and responds appropriately according to protocol and nursing assessment. The Clinical Nurse 2 utilizes the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic clinical care in this specific cardiology patient population. The Clinical Nurse 2 also provides clinical support to Providers and participates as part of the health care team to assure coordination and continuity of patient care. The Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for triage on behalf of the practice both in person and through telephone and electronic communication. S/he participates in the development and implementation of educational programs and materials for patients and their family members. S/he delivers direct patient care to a variety of patient populations. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient’s physiological and psychosocial development. The Clinical Nurse 2 will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment. S/he is responsible for daily clinical operations and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. The Clinical Nurse 2 consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor, helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the practice and complies with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. This employee will utilize computer skills in Apex and other UCSF computerized programs. This individual supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the practice, and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration, and complies with all Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice. Embraces and consistently role models the UCSF concepts of values: PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence and AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thanks) throughout all interactions with patients, family members, and other employees, both in person and on the phone. The Clinical Nurse 2 will be primarily located at the Mission Bay and Bayfront Cardiology Practices, however, s/he must have flexibility to cover multiple UCSF medical center cardiology clinic sites.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years recent Cardiology experience as a Registered Nurse in an Ambulatory Cardiology clinic
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent RN experience with Adult Congenital Heart Disease patients
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent RN experience in pre and post Interventional Cardiology patient care
  • Possession of the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of one year experience in Cardiology
  • Recent Experience in the use of Electronic Medical Record documentation
  • Experience working with Adult and Geriatrics patient population
  • Ability to work competently and efficiently with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & Word

License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
