Job Summary

The division of pediatric oncology performs laboratory-based research to make discoveries and find new therapies that will impact the lives of pediatric and young adult patients with cancer. This is a highly dynamic and fast paced environment that requires significant amount of on-site work, attention to detail and ability to engage with a highly diverse workforce. The Lab Administrator will assist Principal Investigators and their research teams to facilitate this research. Responsibility include supporting PI calendars, scheduling meetings, administrative aspects of grant submission, supporting national and international travel logistics, etc. The lab administrator will also assist lab members with reagent and equipment purchasing, grant submissions and small equipment maintenance. Lab administrators will also serve as a liaison with the finance team in , allocation of lab purchases to the correct fund and adhering to budgets. The incumbent will guide faculty and lab members in understanding and adhering to university polices , around purchasing, reimbursements, and travel.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience
  • Demonstrated outstanding analytical, written verbal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated independent organizational and management skill

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with financial records and systems.
  • Familiarity with UCSF systems.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience with human resources processes.
  • Experience with complex scheduling and calendaring
