FACULTY POSITION DESCRIPTION
Family and Community Medicine Residency Program Director
Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital

Appointment As: Assistant, Associate, or Full HS Clinical Professor or Professor of Clinical Family and Community Medicine, depending on experience and qualifications. FCM is a National Health Service Corps site and this position may qualify for loan repayment assistance under this program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco is recruiting for the next Director of the Family & Community Medicine Residency Program. Appointment will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank of the HS Clinical or Clinical X, series. Academic rank is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include:
* Serving as the Program Director of the Family and Community Medicine Residency, currently a 15 PGY1 - 15 PGY2 - 15 PGY3 program:
o Selecting, recruiting, and retaining residents committed to care for urban under- resourced populations,
o Developing and maintaining a curriculum that emphasizes the principles of family and community medicine and relationship-centered care that balances education and service needs,
o Creating and maintaining an educational environment that fosters resident safety, well-being, and professionalism,
o Developing and maintaining a system for evaluating residents and ensuring their successful completion of post graduate training,
o Coordinating faculty-resident advising/mentoring relationships,
o Initiating, coordinating, and administering policies, procedures, and activities which enhance education and training of trainees,
o Maintaining oversight of resident education in the Family Health Center, Family Medicine Inpatient Service, and rotations at San Francisco General Hospital and other clinical sites,
o Developing and instituting improvements to the program to meet standards of accreditation and remaining aware of trends in ACGME priorities,
o Writing and managing successful local, state, and federal grants to support the funding and financial well-being of the residency program,
o Teaching and clinical supervision in the Family Health Center.
* Maintaining a clinical practice in the Family Health Center
* Developing and maintaining scholarly activities and professional development
* May include teaching on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service and/or on the SFGH Birth Center

Qualifications: Must be certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and have a valid California medical license. Must have previous teaching and/or curricular development experience. Prior experience and commitment to working with underserved populations, racially and ethnically diverse patients and staff is essential.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $129,800-$342,900. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
