Job Summary

In the role of daily shift operations management, the Supervisor is responsible for the organization of and the assignment of work to achieve compliance for safety and productivity standards and to ensure that the quality of care is maintained in all clinical areas. The CRC monitors work, supervises care and assists staff as necessary to meet the daily respiratory care demands. In addition to providing clinical leadership, the CRC in conjunction with the medical director, establishes and develops best practice standards for work performance. They are engaged in the development, refinement, and continuous quality improvement of patient care. As a supervisor of a professional staff, they advocate accountability, communication, teamwork and shared decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Graduation from a CoARC approved school of respiratory therapy
  • Maintains advanced knowledge in respiratory care theory and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge and skills to recommend improvements to Respiratory operations.
  • Knowledge of medical center, and UC policies and processes.
  • Deep knowledge of all relevant cardiopulmonary industry federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to apply policy knowledge to proactively identify potential risk areas.
  • Learning leadership skills in mentoring and advising employees.
  • Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively, coordinate and integrate with others throughout the organization. Maintains rapport and professional relationships with peers, peers in the industry, patients, multidisciplinary team members, management.
  • Demonstrated abilities to listen actively, understand varying viewpoints and receive feedback.
  • Skills to tactfully articulate and teach respiratory patient care concepts to staff.
  • Knowledge of Respiratory Program's registry and clinical databases and protocols and guidelines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in respiratory care with two years as a RT II/Clinical Team Leader, or Supervisor.
  • Gaining skills to effectively manage employees along with multiple priorities.
  • Proven analytical abilities and problem solving skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify options for resolution.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement.
  • Role model professional development through continuing education activities and participation in professional organizations.
  • Prior Experience in adult, pediatric, and neonatal care.
  • Prior Experience with quality assurance and continuous quality improvement techniques.
  • Prior Respiratory Care related teaching or research experience.

License/Certification

Required:

  • Current and Valid RCP license in the state of California.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
Preferred:
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program
