Department OverviewGraduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs (GUEA) provides leadership and support for efforts that advance UC equity and inclusion, that promote access to and successful completion of baccalaureate and graduate degrees, and that help to provide an exemplary student academic experience.

Position SummaryApplies skills as an experienced professional with a clear understanding of analytical practices, policies, and procedures related to postsecondary curriculum management and statewide articulation. Serves as a member of the curriculum and user management support team for the Articulation System Stimulating Interinstitutional Student Transfer (ASSIST), an intersegmental program based on shared objectives across the University of California (UC), California State University (CSU), and California Community College (CCC) systems to facilitate student transfer among the state's public colleges and universities. Researches, analyzes, and proposes stakeholder-focused solutions to a variety of higher education issues within a college student transfer and academic preparation context. Demonstrates reliable judgment in thoroughly analyzing issues and problems, gathering data and information, identifying and evaluating viable alternatives, and determining appropriate action. Primarily works with systemwide policies, programs, and projects of moderate scope and complexity (e.g., course-to-course articulation, general education patterns, and major preparation articulation). Cultivates and maintains collaborative, service-oriented relationships with institutions across the state's public education segments (UC, CSU, CCC, AICCU and K-12) and other organizations involved in student transfer. Supports ASSIST Central Service Team to expand and establish operations to serve participating AICCU member institutions. Develops and recommends policies or procedures for possible implementation by the ASSIST Central Services team, under direction of the ASSIST Program Director and with guidance from the ASSIST Associate Director. This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement within the state of California. The selected candidate must reside within the state of California or be willing to relocate.
Key Responsibilities

10% Proposes, leads and / or participates on policy and planning committees and working groups. Provides strategy development for organizational or research initiative.

20% Coordinates efforts with a variety of external and internal contacts; researches organizational structures, policies and procedures and summarizes best practices in field. Provides technical guidance and quality assessment.

10% Researches and analyzes processes and procedures, summarizes findings, policies and organizational structures in order to develop and / or implement changes and to provide consultative services to department administrators, partners and external stakeholders.

30% Prepares directives, regulations, technical guidance, and other instructions for issuance to stakeholders.

20% Coordinates implementation with cross-organizational departments or external entities as needed.

10% Researches and drafts complex proposals, reports, briefings, executive summaries, and speeches. Establishes and maintains contacts internally and with external constituents for the collection and exchange of data.

ExperienceRequired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in higher education.

Skills and AbilitiesRequired Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
  • Strong policy analysis techniques.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
