DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Graduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs (GUEA) at the UC Office of the President provides leadership and support for efforts that advance UC equity and inclusion, close equity gaps, promote access to and successful completion of baccalaureate and graduate degrees, and help to provide an exemplary University experience for all.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision from the Assistant Director, the Operations Coordinator for California GEAR UP has the responsibility to ensure that the processes and procedures related to evaluation, activity tracking, and convening function in an efficient and effective manner in order to achieve the Program's student-centered goals.
This position is eligible for remote work within the state California.
Responsibilities
40%
Serves as the primary administrative support for the Assistant Director and program coordinators; contributes actively with the Executive and Assistant Directors as part of the Programs Administrative Team to plan, schedule, organize, and coordinate multiple functions related to the programs operations.

Designs, innovates, and maintains, various cloud-based monitoring and communication systems, including Smartsheet, Google Drive, and Box. This includes initiating, arranging, and tracking program activity for 27 schools, 13 instructional coaches, and 7 partners.

Oversees all outwardly-faced organizational events, including but not limited to, statewide and regional virtual and in-person convenings in terms of planning, marketing, communications, coordination with contractors, and partnering with internal and external staff.

Develops correspondence, marketing materials, social media posts, and presentations to internal and external audiences in serving as the hub for the Program.
05% Attends classes, seminars, and conferences that enhance professional expertise and foster managerial competency and understanding of general federal rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least two-three years of experience providing administrative support and/or coordination to secondary and/or postsecondary management teams or programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in serving diverse student and school populations that include sensitivity to issues related to culture, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, including the ability to develop and edit materials for the public.
  • Self-management skills, including coordinating across multiple tasks and set priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, counselors, principals, teachers, community contacts, and program partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in using cloud-based platforms including SmartSheet, Google Drive, and Box.
  • Competence in initiating and maintaining multiple databases.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience/training.

Payscale: $62,000 - $72,000, commensurate with experience

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
