University of California - Los Angeles Health is Hiring a Surgical Technician - Main OR Westwood Near Los Angeles, CA

DescriptionUnderthe direct supervision of the Charge Nurse within the Operating Room, theSurgical Tech completes surgical set-ups according to department standards. TheSurgical Tech ensures and is responsible for the care of the patient in thesurgical suite, and is responsible for the surgical instrumentation and thepreparation of supplies and equipment used, as well as other related duties.Duties include anticipating patient needs at the sterile field, related topreparing for all supplies, instruments and equipment. The Surgical Tech isresponsible for implementing knowledge of aseptic technique, practices relatedto prevention of retained foreign objects, safe medication labeling andhandling, anticipatory skills related to the sequence of the procedure, and safespecimen handling. Salary range:$33.66-$44.40 Hourly
QualificationsWe're seeking a highly-skilled,self-motivated professional with: * Must have surgical technician certification from an accredited school or program required* Must have at least 2 years' experience and ability to independently scrub on multiple surgical services required* BCLS from the American Red Cross and American Heart Association required* Cardiac experience desired* Working knowledge of the use, function and operation of all operating room equipment* Working knowledge of aseptic technique* Working knowledge of surgical procedures including anatomy and correct terminology* Ability to provide information, explain policies and procedures to team members* Ability to set priorities, recognize emergency situations and take the appropriate action under the direction of the nurse in charge
